Three stages of one ring
The same ring is worth eight, twenty-six, or fifty depending only on when the cast lands. The dashed band in the third stage is the marker drawn on the board, and hitting it is the entire skill of the game.
Judging your own morning
Divide the weight by the number of casts. An average above thirty means you are reading rings; below twenty means you are reacting to movement instead, which is the most common habit to unlearn.
One exercise
Play a full morning in which you only cast when the dashed band is visible, even if that means letting rings expire. The final weight is usually higher than a morning spent taking everything.
